I'm really not sure that this book needs an introduction. It takes place 19 years from where we left off. Actually, the opening scene was the final scene from the seventh book that takes place at the train station where young Albus Severus Potter is preparing to go to his first year at Hogwarts. There, now you know where it starts.

Now, before you go any further, did you read the first seven books? If so, continue reading, if not, then you just need to stop right now, go to the library and pick up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone or Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (depending on which continent you're on. ;) )

This is the story of Harry Potter as an over worked Ministry of Magic employee who is struggling to find balance between work and being a father. He is also struggling with how to be a father to teenagers, specifically his middle child and youngest son, Albus Severus Potter. Young Albus struggles with being different. He wants to fit in desperately, but doesn't know how. When an opportunity presents itself for him to prove to his father and everyone else that he is worthy of his namesakes, he decides to take it. However, he may not be making the right choice. His choice may lead to devastation for the whole world.

Okay, I'm going to be honest --- huge Hogwarts fan here. So, let me just say... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK! Okay, all done now. No, one more... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK! Okay, now I'm done. I had no preconceived ideas of what this book would be like. The story of Harry Potter was finished in my mind so I wanted to get this book to enjoy and not necessarily to continue Harry's story. So, I was just ready for a book about the world of witches and wizards and I was not disappointed. It is written as a play script and it took a few pages for me to get used to reading it that way instead of as a novel, but once I got the hang of it, it was easy to read and I forgot it was a play. It was just a story playing out in my head like any other book.

So, yes, I completely recommend this book for all Harry Potter fans! I give it five stars! *****
