At the local Indie Author Day, I was asked to speak on book reviewing so I left with quite a few books to read and this was one of them. The author, Marti Healy, read "Nothing to Fear Could Be Lurking Quite Near" during her reading. She mentioned that there aren't a lot of illustrations on each page because she loves to encourage the children to use their imaginations. So, it's true, each page isn't fully illustrated. However, there is something on each page and my children didn't notice there were less illustrations on the pages than some picture books. They just loved the stories! They rhyme and it's slightly Suess-esc. (Can we make that a word?) The stories were fun, the message in the stories was great for my children, the illustrations and totally entertaining. Really, there was nothing negative the kids nor I could say about this book.
