I realize you haven't actually heard from me for a while. You have had the opportunity to hear from a bunch of amazing authors though and you've heard my opinions about their books. My life has been crazy and I feel like my head has been spinning in circles and I have just had no time to stop and breathe. I have scheduled that time in right now... well, for the next five minutes anyways.
We just got home from my daughter's dance convention. I mean, within the last couple of hours type of just. Before that we were getting back into the swing of getting back into school and before that was the holidays and it's just been going and going. However, I have set up a schedule as part of my New Year's resolution so I'm really hoping to set aside 30 minutes each day to put into this blog. That just makes me excited. I'd love to be able to share more of my life on here.
I have actually set several New Year's resolutions for writing:
1) Finish editing Charmed and Lethal that I am co-writing with Christine Eller.
2) Publish something, anything this year. I'm aiming for a novel, but maybe a novella will work, too. I just want to get something self-published. I have quite a few projects that just need to be polished up and then start the process.
3) Write daily. Yes, that's it for that one. I'm not giving myself a time frame or word count or anything, just to write daily. I have scheduled an hour, but some days that schedule doesn't stick. We'll see how that goes.
How do you make time in your day to do the things you like to do? I really have no idea. Between being a mom, wife, teacher, housekeeper, chauffeur, and scout leader I often find that I run out of time to be a person. I have to actually set aside time for me to be me. Not a mom. Not a wife. Not a teacher. Just me. I love to read, write, and work out. I work out by getting up before my children do. I read when my kids do and after their in bed and I write after their in bed. As you can imagine, this leaves little time for sleep. We are taught that in order to take care of our children, we must take care of ourselves first in order to have the strength and energy to take care of the others around us. So, my goal this year is to find time for me so I can be a better "everyone else".
Here's to the New Year! May we all find ourselves and may our dreams come true as we strive to be better than we were last year. Happy 2017!
